God has given us a beautiful and strong body
with five senses to use our discretion
and distinguish between- Right and Wrong
, Lie and Truth, Good and Bad, Kind and Harsh, Pain and Comfort, so that we always live with the purpose of being happy and making others happy. It is a well known fact about human weakness to
easily fall prey to lust and commit an unlawful, unkind, unethical or unscrupulous
act for personal benefit. God expects us to control five bad elements which
exist to a varying degree within every human being:
·
Lust—Shed lust for material things and be
respectful and loveable.
·
Anger -
Give up anger and become kind, forgiving and calm.
·
Greed – Earn as much you can to fulfil your
needs but not for your greed, which has
no limit.
· Possessiveness - Do not be over-possessive and
cling to materialistic things. Share these happily with others and care for the
needy.
· Haughtiness. Don’t be
know-all, have-all and boast of your possessions and strength. These are God-given gifts and can vanish in no time. Pay gratitude to God for everything
which you have got.
God is Watching
. Always remember that God is watching our deeds on a 24x7 basis and “we will “reap
what we sow”. We all must control our mind and never do a deed which is harmful to others. There is a nice little story about a big thief/robber
(Konda) who had piled up a lot of wealth but was quite popular among poor as he helped them on various
occasions (festivals or family functions
). He would go to rich houses at night and steal things but he was also kind
enough to give part of his loot to the poor.
Many people in that area were fed up of his unkind acts. Responding to
the prayers of people, God sent His messenger a Guru (Saint) to reform Konda (
Not real Name). The Guru asked Konda as how and why he had accumulated so
much of wealth. Konda respectfully
answered saying that he robs the rich kept their precious things for his own Happiness but gave a little share to the poor.
The Guru/Saint told Konda that he was not on his right path and must earn with
his own effort/hard work and then give 10% of his earnings to the poorer. Only then God
will be happy and you will lead a more purposeful and happy life. The Robber pleaded
that he had no other means to earn and he cannot give up robbery. To guide him
on the right path and Guru gave him simple but good advice.
Guru
asked Konda to promise two basic rules and may continue his livelihood
1) You
speak the truth whenever asked by anyone.
2) You
may steal any item from anywhere but make sure no one is watching you.
Konda
gladly agreed to Gur’s suggestion and the Guru moved on his long journey.
After
few days. Konda felt the urge to steal
something. He planned to go for a big robbery in the king’s palace. As the darkness
of night had set in, Konda swiftly moved toward the palace`. He was
challenged by the gatekeeper as who he was
and why he wanted to enter the palace at that dark hour. Konda remembered Guru
“words” and his promise of always speaking the truth. Konda replied very boldly
that he was a thief and wanted to steal wealth from the king’s lockers. The gatekeeper felt that no robber will openly admit such a crime and Konda must be a big
person known to the King. So Konda was allowed to go in. Konda knew which room
in the palace has Jewry and money and quickly took out as much he liked and
prepared bundle to carry out of the palace. As
Konda was just to lift the bundle he had just tied up, he remembers the words
of Guru that at the time and place you commit theft there should be no one
watching you, It struck to Konda that God is always present and He was
watching him. So Konda decided to drop the idea of robbery and walk out other
palace empty hands as he had come. The gatekeeper did not suspect him and let
him go as he had come. So it was the first time that Konda has returned empty
hands but very happy within.
The next morning when day broke, there was an alarm that someone has attempted to take
away the precious items but to the utter surprise of the king, the robber had collected a lot of items but did not
take anything away. The King was very furious and took the guard to task for their lapse of allowing
a thief into the palace. The king ordered severe punishment for the negligent
guard and wanted to search around the whole area and catch the culprit. The search
party could not find the culprit. After 3 days, Konda realised the many innocent
people were being rounded up and punished. He decided to walk up to the king,
admit his guilt and accept the
punishment. Konda narrated his whole plan of coming in and going out of the palace.
The King was surprised on the boldness of Konda and his honestly in accepting his
act and save the innocents being punished.
King asked Konda why had he not taken away the booty. Konda narrated the
noble advice he got from a Guru. The king was very much pleased to reward Konda
for his honesty and asked him the location of his Guru so that King can pay his
respect and also get blessings of such a noble saint. Konda went around but
could not locate the Guru who was going all over spreading the real message of
God.
God
is guiding. There have been many instances where
people got stuck and stranded in difficult terrain with no help coming from any
one. If you pray sincerely God will answer in the form of an idea or thought or
some local resource to improvise or
some wayside traveller may show up and give you helping hand. If you have faith
in God, He will never let you down or
leave you in the lurch. You will get guidance or assistance in some form. Have
unwavering faith in God and a difficult situation will become easy to surmount,
Let us say you are to go for an important presentation and you are running
short on time, stay calm and go through your preparation with full faith in God
for your successful presentation, On the day of presentation and at the venue
scheduled, go to the stage well-composed and confident that God is with you.
You will observe how point by point various headlines of you PPT slides appear
in front of you and you made great prostration with the deep impact of the
audience.
God
is protecting. Whenever there is a difficult situation,
God himself (in many forms) comes and stands up to resolve the affairs of His
Saints/ followers. If you are fully aligned with God, you will get praises and congratulations
from all over the world and all your sorrows will be eliminated immediately.
Your faith and love for God will not only see you through but will also help
and support your nears and dears. There many instances where God’s true devotee Mohan Singh ( not real name) got late or was indisposed to carry out the very
important duty of night sanitary/guard at a sensitive store. Mohan Singh kept
praying and worrying about his duty whole night and expected
punishment for being absent from duty. Next day, Mohan Singh’s boss called him to
his office and openly praised him for so well performed duty. On hearing
this, Mohan Singh knew who has done his duty and was ever thankful to God and decided
to devote his rest of life in meditating and thanking God. He thanked his boss but requested for immediate release from
his job. The boss was surprised to hear
response and request from Mohan Singh, On receiving his release orders Mohan Singh spent his rest of life in remembrance
of God.
God
expects you to shed your personal ego and surrender to Him fully and
unconditionally. If you see that everyone around you is God’s creation and they
are all right in their way and place, there will be no conflict. You should look for harmony and minimise
conflict. We must earn honestly and live a purposeful life and letting others
also to live happily. We must not discriminate on the basis of religion, caste,
colour or creed or wealth. We are to love, respect and regard each other and
not hate or harm others to dominate and force our will upon them for our
material gain
